Lanciers officer's chapska model 1854, black patent leather cap topped by a square pavilion covered with navy blue ribbed cloth and daffodil piping, top corners trimmed with silvered corners, metallic tricolor cockade, visor encircled by a brass snap ring, brass plate trimmed with rays and a semi of flowers in its center, on each side a rosette with a leonine mufle, chinstrap with curb rings, scarlet horsehair plume and pompom, leather interior (chinstrap and wolf's teeth missing), visor band stamped "343", inside manufacturer's label J.F. Gouéry Canat & Cie à Paris and size 5 ½, missing, worn, worn headdress, France Second Empire period.
