From the same recipient: Ordre de la Légion d'honneur, officer's star 40 mm, red ribbon with circular bouffette, Croix de guerre 1914-1915 with four bronze stars, one silver star and a palm, Médaille militaire, IIIe république model, the whole with a 170 x 215 mm tray, covered in mauve felt, embroidered with E M, and bearing on the back the words "MANSON, chef de bataillon, Citation à l'ordre de l'Armée du 10 mai 1915" demonstrated extraordinary calm and composure on August 20, 1914. Kept his battalion deployed under the most violent enemy artillery and infantry fire. Vigorously led the battalion .... until, seriously wounded, he was forced to relinquish command.
