Their reputation was built on mass production for the American market from the 1890s to the 1960s, as well as a specialization in earthenware bathroomware. Some of its designs, such as "Le Beau Eternel", "Old English Castles" and "History of America", enjoyed great popularity. The company's success was due in part to its ability to identify and follow trends that appealed to its customers in the United States, and in part to the high quality of its designs, produced by skilled artists. Founded in 1883, it was part of the Wedgwood Group from 1968 to 2015. However, after Fiskars acquired the Wedgwood Group in 2015, Johnson Brothers production was discontinued.
