SHEPPARD Vincent - Lot 345
SHEPPARD Vincent Armchair with corded backrest in grey-painted "Lloyd Loom" weave. Turned wood structure. Label "Vincent Sheppard Lloyd Loom Furniture Since 1917" - Serial no. 10/2006 (wear to the rattan, especially on the armrests) Height : 91 cm - Width : 60 cm - Depth : 58 cm Note : The story begins in the United States during the First World War in 1917, when entrepreneur Marshall Burns Lloyd, who was producing baby carriages and strollers at the time, found himself faced with a sharp drop in rattan supplies. He invented the Lloyd Loom technique. Lloyd Loom is made from twisted Kraft paper on the one hand, and Kraft paper spun around a steel wire on the other. With twisted paper as warp and the combination of steel and paper as weft, Lloyd Loom is produced in rolls in the same way as textiles. The Loom sheets are dipped in a glue bath to ensure their strength, and then cut to size. Souce company website
