Saber d'honneur d'officier de grosse cavalerie, modeled after a saber awarded by the First Consul to Captain Cornubert François, maréchal des Logis au 27ème de Dragons, silver battle guard hallmarked with cock 1st title (1798-1809) and JM under star for the silversmith, with openwork palmettes and triangle, oval cap decorated with gadroons, chagrin-covered and filigree spindle, 965 mm curved, flat-backed blade, hallmarked M under a cogwheel (J.J. Mouton, inspector from 1798 to 1809) and oval pearl hallmark (illegible, probably the mark of Levavasseur, inspector from 1798 to 1803), and marked on the back Manufacture du Klingenthal Coulaux frères entrepreneurs, crimson tie remnant, polished steel scabbard has two wide silver bracelets, the edges of the bracelets in double beading, the scabbard engraved on the front "Le Premier Consul au Cne Cornubert François, Mal des Logis au 27ème de Dragons", and on the back "Mfture à Versailles", button stinger, wear from use, oxidation, LT 1130 mm, high quality, later remanufacture, in the second half of the 20th century, of a particularly rare saber.
