Childhood wick (distinctive sign of royal children and infantile deities in ancient Egypt.
The child's wick was worn by the children of the Pharaohs, to indicate their link with the young Horus, who, like them, had worn the wick as heir apparent to his father Osiris.
The king's children, as designated heirs, received the wick of Horus to indicate the special duties associated with this status. In iconography, the royal children were depicted naked, sucking their fingers, their heads completely shaven except for the wick.
