Gay-Lussac metal and brass pump - Lot 115
Gay-Lussac metal and brass pump (oxidized, missing, worn, sold as is) Height Height : 38 cm Note: Gay-Lussac's law, named after French chemist and physicist Louis Joseph Gay-Lussac, is one of the laws of thermodynamics that make up the law of perfect gases. Gas physics is at the root of many scientific advances. It enabled the development of phenomenological thermodynamics in the mid-nineteenth century, but also served to consolidate the atomist hypothesis at the beginning and throughout the nineteenth century. Gas physics originated with Robert Boyle (1627-1691), who together with Robert Hooke (1635-1702) invented the first vacuum pump.
