MARESTÉ Georges Jules known as Géo MARESTÉ (1875-1940) - Lot 57
MARESTÉ Georges Jules known as Géo MARESTÉ (1875-1940) Pan watching the villagers go mad Set of three studies on tracing paper Unsigned, one annotated "Pour le Prélude de Pan de Solitude et Pitié de Giono" ("For Pan's Prelude to Giono's Solitude and Pity") (thumbtack holes, folds and small tears) 26.5 x 20.5 cm Note: Probably a study for the text Prélude de Pan published in Jean Giono's collection Solitude de la pitié. In bibliophily, this book was illustrated by Jean Jansem. A letter dated December 5, 1934 attests to this collaboration between author and artist. The project between Jean Giono and Georges Maresté was therefore aborted. We would like to thank Madame Sylvie Gest, the Centre Jean Giono and the Association des amis de Jean Giono for their invaluable assistance.
