His sources of inspiration are drawn from both civilized and natural life. This confrontation has given rise to works that resemble cartoons, in which animal imagery takes the place of human beings, personifying emotions and concepts. If Johnston Foster's work uses a visual language derived from Pop Culture and seems at first sight amusing, it is above all an expression of the artist's concerns about the contemporary Western world and its excesses.
