PICAULT Émile-Louis (1833-1915), after "Virtutes civicae, Ense et Labore" - Civic virtues, sword and work Brown patina bronze Signed on the terrace (sword shaft missing and slightly deformed, minor wear to patina) Height : 71 cm - Width : 23.5 cm - Depth : 17.5 cm Note: Picault enjoyed great success with his allegorical models, patriotic subjects and heroic figures. He exhibited his work regularly at the Salon from 1863 onwards. He used many different foundries to cast his bronzes, which were all exhibited as such, mainly at Susse Frères, Houdebine and Colin.
