MARESTÉ Georges Jules known as Géo MARESTÉ (1875-1940) - Lot 46
MARESTÉ Georges Jules known as Géo MARESTÉ (1875-1940) Pan and Syrinx Set of eight drawings on paper, including four on tracing paper and two on headed paper J.G. Maresté-Marescal, Place de la Corderie, Cognac Unsigned (thumbtack holes, folds, some stains and foxing, tears, one tracing stuck to paper) 21 x 15.5 cm to 27 x 21 cm Note: Probably a study for the text Prélude de Pan published in Jean Giono's collection Solitude de la pitié. In bibliophily, this book was illustrated by Jean Jansem. A letter dated December 5, 1934 attests to this collaboration between author and artist. The project between Jean Giono and Georges Maresté was therefore aborted. We would like to thank Madame Sylvie Gest, the Centre Jean Giono and the Association des amis de Jean Giono for their invaluable assistance.
