Pair of chairs called "chiavari" or "charivari" in turned wood, carved and lacquered, the back openwork balusters and the seat straw. They stand on arched feet with crossbars. 19th century (restoration to the back of one, wear to the wood) Height : 92 cm 92 cm - Width : 44 cm - Depth : 46 cm Note : The Charivari chair is imported from Italy from the city of Charivari Milano, hence its name. Particularly appreciated by the bourgeoisie under Napoleon III, it is used in large reception rooms because it is decorative and functional, easy to move because of its lightness and small size.
