ELDH Carl Johan (1873-1954) Young man with flower bouquet Bronze with golden patina Signed - Foundry stamp ERIK PETTERSSON Fud. Height : 50 cm 50 cm - Width : 19 cm - Depth : 14 cm (slight traces of oxidation) Note : Carl Eldh was admitted to the Fine Arts School of Stockholm in 1892. Then he went to Paris to study sculpture at the Académie Colarossi (1897-1904) where he was a student of Jean-Antoine Injalbert and Philippe-Laurent Roland. He was very inspired by the work of Auguste Rodin. In 1900, he represented Sweden at the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris with La Virginité. He also participated that year in the Salon des artistes français where he received an honorable mention and a 3rd class medal in 19021 for his work Le Chagrin d'une mère. In 1929 he took part in the Swedish Art Exhibition organized at the Jeu-de-Paume Museum where he presented the works Youth, Auguste Strindberg and Young Seated Girl (bronze)1.
