BUTHAUD René (1886-1986) - Lot 262
BUTHAUD René (1886-1986) Circa 1925 Important ceramic vase with white-cream cracked enamel of ovoid form and small neck hemmed with three revolving decorations in cut relief Monogrammed engraved on the back. Height. 35.5 cm high Provenance : private collection. From 1922, René Buthaud, in perpetual research of new techniques, realized, in an Art Deco spirit, vases with monochrome decorations modeled and taken up in engraving, art of which he had been 'Prix de Rome' in 1914. His precursory decorations were worth to him to participate in the commission of admission at the time of the very mediatized exhibition of the Decorative Arts of 1925. The mold of this vase, formerly in the artist's private collection, then part of the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Bordeaux, was exhibited there in 1976 during the exhibition "Céramiques de René Buthaud". Catalog written by Jacqueline du Pasquier : p.54 n°22 & p.55 repr. Expert : France Cruège de Forceville
