Put on hold in June 1928, at the Brest arsenal, it was launched on 24 April 1929 and commissioned in 1931. After the Tourville, the Duquesne, the Suffren and the Colbert, it was the fifth French cruiser of 10,000 tw, preceding the Dupleix and the Algérie. The Foch is then a 194.20 m long ship, which displaces 12780 t in full load. A rare feature in the French Navy, it was equipped with three lines of shafts. During its trials, it reached 32 knots. In 1939, as part of the forces based in Toulon, it took part in various sorties during the period known as the "phoney war", including searches for German raiders in the Atlantic, and then the bombing of Genoa on 14 June 1940. After the armistice, it belonged to the High Sea Forces based in Toulon. After an inert period of guarding, still in Toulon, and facing the Germans arriving in the arsenal, the cruiser Foch was scuttled like the rest of the fleet present on the harbour, on November 27th 1942, in the Castigneau dock. Raised on 3 July 1943, it was finally dismantled. Source NetMarine
