PRAT Louis (1879-1932) Discussion around the horseshoe basin of Saint Cloud Etching in colors Monogrammed in the plate, countersigned lower right in the margin, numbered 68 lower left and drystamped (foxing and stains mainly in the margin, thumbtack marks in the corners and small tear in the upper right corner) Dim. subject : 31,5 x 31,7 cm Size of sheet : 59,8 x 47 cm Biography: Louis Prat entered the National School of Fine Arts in Paris at the age of 16, prepared for the competitive examination by the painter Edouard Sain. He worked in Gustave Moreau's studio from 1894 to 1897 and then in the studios of Jean-Jacques Henner, Fernand Cormon, Aimé Morot, François Flameng and Eugène Thirion. He obtained numerous mentions and 9 medals at the Beaux Arts, including the Grand Medal of Emulation for Painting in 1899.
