Important and rare bust of Clemence of Hungary, queen of France, carved in stone in the round; young woman with a beautiful full face with almond-shaped eyes, swollen upper eyelids, fine nose and very slightly turned up, mouth sketching a smile; flowered crown placed on a wimple. France Neo-Gothic period (wears, spalls) Height : 34 cm 34 cm - Width : 31 cm - Depth : 14 cm Note : This work presents many similarities with the marble recumbent of Clemence of Hungary formerly in the Jacobins of Paris and today in Saint Denis Clemence of Hungary, (born February 8, 1293 in Naples - died October 13, 1328 in Paris), queen of France and queen consort of Navarre, was the daughter of Charles-Martel of Anjou, king of Hungary and Clemence of Habsburg, daughter of Emperor Rudolf I. She married Louis X le Hutin on August 15, 1315. Widowed in June 1316, she gave birth to a son, Jean 1er le Posthume, who lived only 4 days.
