Lot of nine foam figurines of Les Amoureux after Raymond Pey - Lot 237
Lot of nine foam figurines of Les Amoureux after Raymond Peynet including five male and four female characters Height from 14.5 to 16 cm (tiny stains, wear and tear on one hand of the Pierrot and an accident on the arm of the female figurine in the basket) Note: Les " amoureux ", the poet and his girlfriend, were created by Peynet in 1942, in Valence, inspired by a bandstand known since then as kiosk Peynet. They are said to have inspired the song Les amoureux des bancs publics by Georges Brassens. Similarly, in the 1950s and 1960s, the latex foam dolls of Peynet's lovers were a great success, about six million copies sold, before being dethroned by Barbie dolls. Peynet dolls were actively collected but the latex often degraded over time. Recent editions, often of lesser quality, are inspired by this production.
