MARTIAL Adolphe Martial Potémont, known as (1828-1883) draftsman - CADART et LUCE (printer) Collection In Folio of twelve etchings entitled "Paris Incendié" including : Auteuil Viaduct - City Hall - Ruins at Auteuil - The Legion of Honour and the Tuileries - Theatre of the Porte Saint Martin and Restaurant Deffieux Ronceray - Ministry of Finance - House of Pierre Bonaparte - Palais Royal - House near the Porte de Neuilly - The Docks de la Villette and the Cour des Comptes - Houses at the corner of Lille and Le Bac streets - Oil boats under the vault of the Canal St Martin (small stitches and anchorings, small tears in the right margin) Dim. Subject: 24 x 16.3 cm - Sheet size: 48.5 x 31.5 cm Note: Martial Potémont, a painter and engraver and friend of Daubigny's, fixed hundreds of views of Paris before Haussmann's transformations with etching. In 1862, Cadart was, with Auguste Delâtre, founder of the Société des aquafortistes, the first manifestation of a movement for the revival of the original painter's etching, 7 rue de Richelieu. Then, in October 1863, Cadart joined forces with Jules Luquet (born in 1824), owner of the Hôtel de la Grande-Bretagne in Paris and painter. Finally, in 1873, Cadart established itself under its own name, 58 rue Neuve-des-Mathurins. The house continued after 1876 and until 1881 under the direction of Cadart's widow, at 56 boulevard Haussmann.
