PASCAUD Jean (1903-1996) An important string with curved body, sheathed in shagreen and mounted on a plinth resting on a base with a cut-out taking up the shape of the upper plate. The front opens with two leaves and reveals four sycamore compartments. Large entrance lock in gilded bronze in the manner of a bas-relief decorated with a reclining woman, framed by a handle forming a catch. Upper shelf, plinth and base ringed with a gilded brass band and decorated with marquetry of different types of wood. Stamped Jean Pascaud and stamped with the JEAN PASCAUD stamp Top. 88 cm - Length: 196 cm - Depth: 58 cm (accidents and missing items, some lifts in shagreen veneer) Provenance: Special order placed directly to Jean Pascaud by the actress Josseline Gaël, wife of Jules Berry. The couple's Parisian apartment at 28 Boulevard Raspail was furnished with this set of furniture, which was in close contact with the beautiful Parisian artistic scene of the 30s and 40s. Jean Pascaud attended Jules Berry's funeral. We have this set from Josseline Gaël's direct entourage. Expert Christophe Couot
