Note: Marcel Saint Martin was first a coffee maker, photographer, hairdresser but above all a painter and poet. It was Lise Deharme, novelist, poetess and muse of surrealist artists who pushed him towards painting and writing. At her side he met Cocteau, Desnos, Aragon, Picasso and many others. From 1950, he exhibited in Paris, met Jean Lurçat with whom he collaborated, received the Prix de la Chance and published his first poems with Pierre Seghers. As a songwriter, he met his wife Janine Bertille. They return to the Landes region and settle in Montfort en Chalosse, where they write plays together until her death. After this separation, he continued his poetic and pictorial work and exhibited in France and abroad.
